Netbooks on their way out… official!
I use the Ubuntu for all my general internet access related daily activity, don't need Anti-spyware, anti-virus, etc..
For the WinXp though I do use the following:
Firewall: Zone Alarm Firewall (FREE)
Anti-Virus: Avast Antivirus Home Edition (FREE)
Anti-Spyware: Ad-Aware SE Personal, Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search & Destroy (ALL FREE)
Cleaner: CCleaner (FREE)
Browser: Firefox with extensions NoScript and Adblock Plus
I can highly recommend it.
As a firewall I use Comodo Firewall. The recently launched version 3 now supports Vista as well. It's a free firewall and comes very recommended.
comodo for my firewall and antivirus
CCleaner
Spybot search and destroy and
Spywareblaster
So far - so good and no probs
I've been using NOD32 for years now, very good indeed, doesn't use much resource and works very well!
-grrrr-
Switched to Norton 360 and Spybot. Things have been VERY zippy since then.
Browser - Firefox + Adblock
No virus / spam filtering - not really needed on Linux
IPTables firewall to stop inbound rubbish
Windows for gaming, doesn't go near the internet - I find most security packages for windows far too bloated and slow (the bigger the name, the worse they are)
