I think its a great job done on the new directory but its still lacking some intuitiveness ... im guessing they tried to work with the existing wordpress code or tried to tweak bbpress into a directory.

Either way wp-plugins.net is still the biggest directory out there and ive also notices a new one at http://www.learningwordpress.com. The last one seems to have a better layout and has a better search feature compared to the other two.

I am with sharaf - it is great that there is a central place to get at the plug-ins, but, they really need to improve the "popular keywords" and search functions... I hope they are still working on it and that it does not remain stagnant.

Page links is a fabulous idea... I've been looking for a way to include post categories in the navigation section only using wp_list_pages (or whatever tag) and have had to make do with creating custom 'static-html' pages which is somewhat annoying.

Not sure about the others though...

I recently used the Page Links plugin on a site (www.kayema.com) I created for a client. They wanted pages to appear on their navigation bar dedicated to resources, i.e. useful links, and News about their company. I realized that the best format for both of these types of entries would be as categories that would contain posts. So I created a resources and news category, and created two pages called Resources and Categories. The content of those pages is blank, and I entered the links to the Category archive pages for each page in the custom fields section as per the directions of the page links plugin. It worked beautifully - take a look!

I know the directory already lists the top 5 plugins, but it would be nice if one could click on 'more...' to find the next 5, 10, 15 etc.
