Connected Internet: What’s The Point Of Registering On WordPress Blogs?

  • Lorelle · 2 years ago
If you require registration for people to post comments, they are your registered guests. If you have current emails for them, you can email them and ask them to subscribe to your feed.

Other than that, do with them what you will, but make sure you do it carefully as some efforts can slap you back in the face. ;-) No selling the list.

You wouldn't have them if you didn't offer a way to register. I'd clean them out and get on with the more important stuff like quality content and turning off the default check in the checkbox of comments notification via email and moving that above the Submit Comments button where people can SEE if before they hit the button. ;-)

I've decided to remove the register link until I come up for a good use for it. Ryan is making good use of it, but I can't code like him.

    As to your other tips:

    - writing good content - thanks I'll give that a go ;-)
    - removing the auto-tick - but what if people don't see it otherwise? ;-)

For that matter what's the point of agreeing to a EULA? As disagreeing means you can't use the software.

    How about adfree browsing ;)

I did that on my old Blogware blog and it was a nice move which I'd like to do on this blog. How would I do that on this blog? Some ads would have to stay as I'm contractually bound to display them, but I'm happy to remove the others

what I'd like to do is to automatically subscribe registered readers to my feed i.e. deal is in return for no ads they have to be a feed subscriber
