Netbooks on their way out… official!
I hope your odysee is finally coming to an end. I had a similar problem last year when ghacks was hosted at godaddy and they decided to cut the site off without warning because it was using to many ressources.
I decided to rent a rootserver so that a situation like that would never ever happen again to me. Care to tell me how much you are paying for your virtual server ?
take care and all the best
Martin
I'm paying $90 a month. I'm not sure if that's cheap or not, but it's worth it to me just to ever having the problems I've had over the last two days, It seems a lot - it is on my budget anyway.
But I decided to do it as I want the guarantee that my site will be up regardless of what I do, or if it gets digged.
What it means though is that I need to make sure I make good use of the blog. I didn't realise until I added my archive and it added the number of posts per month, how much my posting rate had fallen.
90$ seems a lot to me but I don´t know the package of course. Is it a managed vps ?
I´am paying 59€ for my rootserver that hosts ghacks and all my other sites.
They also offered me a switch to a vps or rootserver but theirs are mighty expensive.
I know that you probably don´t want to hear my advice to check on the account that you purchased and decide if it is an appropriate one or not. I would do so.
It is really expensive for a VPS if it is not managed.
wish you the best ;)
Managed Servers are always more expensive, they don´t seem to offer unmanaged servers at all.
There were cheaper offerings like $15-20 but I think it's worth the little bit extra for piece of mind. It means another DNS change but at least this time it will be just be moving the same blog, so it shouldn't matter if users see old pages</href>
