The new logo is hideous. Absolutely hideous.
  • Brown Baron · 2 years ago
The old one is much better. That new logo ... it's terrible.
  • Zane · 2 years ago
exactly! whoever looks at the old logo would instantly know that it's about london 2012, while with the new one, well, "what is that?"

i think they'll live to regret the decision!
  • John · 2 years ago
Shocking aint it. What a waste of taxpayers money.
  • Lady Banana · 2 years ago
Looks cheap and nasty to me.. not at all worth £400,000!
  • Zane · 2 years ago
I think it's pretty much like the "Emperor's New Clothes". the ones in charge listen to those supposed to be professionals and buy into whatever they say.

and i just heard the news that forget about petitions, apparently, it's not up for disscussion. there's no way back now.

well, a sad day for the democratic country

I prefer old one too. new one is really shit!

I can't believe it cost £400k to come up with that....I'm getting a bit worried about how they are spending my Walnut Whip!!!

Everytime I hear the words 'London 2012' I get so excited! I'm going to take the whole games off work and I'm going to watch something everyday, even if it's swimming, shooting, or archery - I really don't care.

I'm even thinking of pledging something or volunteering to help.

  • Mosey · 2 years ago
The logo is so ugly I can barely look at it. I can hardly draw but give me 400k (or even a tenth of that) and I'll happily produce something better or just promote the old one! Waste of money and space. Does anyone know who designed it and who chose the design?

I don't think anyone will own up to that! Imagine having this crap on your CV. great comment on the BBC:
'I've vomitted better logos than that'
  • Mosey · 2 years ago
    LOL at the BBC comment!

Just found out who designed it: http://www.wolff-olins.com/ (with reference to this site) but interestingly, I can't seem to find the news on their (OH SO SLOW) flash website.

The original logo was apparently designed by:http://www.kinodesign.co.uk/ - go Kino is all I can say! Apparently it came top out of over 1100 entries.

If I volunteer I'm going to go with the original logo as my t-shirt. No way am I going to be caught dead/alive with the neon things on me.

Uhhh...what the heck is that? Was this voted on by a bunch of high school seniors?
  • Zath · 2 years ago
I do think that logo looks like bit of a shambles if you ask me - lets just hope that the games themselves aren't!
  • green · 2 years ago
2008 logo is better i think.
  • Zane · 2 years ago
i think the logo has been chosen by the olympics committee

they spend £400,000 taxpayers money on a logo, can you imagine on a large scale project, like a stadium...

    scary thought....

    oh dear...oh dear

too much block colour - needed to be less complex then it would have worked - to me it doesn't really say london - london is an trully international city - which the new logo doesn't convey at all. But hey we are stuck with it now so its tuff.
  • Jake · 2 years ago
The logo is pants. Could you do any better?

Submit your own London 2012 logo:
    London 2012 logo competition

Over 100 entries so far and over 20,000 votes. Let's show the world that we have plenty of good British designers.

I really hate the new logo and, to top it all, can't look at it without thinking that it looks like Lisa Simpson performing a lewd act on her brother...
  • jason · 2 years ago
i seriously think we should open a competition to get a much better logo and then campaing to get it replaced britian is going to be shamed if we let such a universally crap decision affecting our global reputation stand unchallenged. they say it isnt going to be changed but of course they would say that if we put enough pressure on them an have a free alternative that has popular consent they would be stupid not to listen even if we failed it would be a good exercise in getting them to listen to us the public it is our democraticaly elected government after all and this is a major public use of money and branding of our nation .. with such a popularly repudiated image
