I'm wondering- has this new theme already been tested on Wordpress 2.3?

Last weekend saw me setting up a test blog with WP2.3 and trying existing adsense-friendly themes with it. Many didn't work, like my fave made by sapiensbryan.com

I think that overall, this new theme is coming along really nicely, it has a good clean look to it, but looks very professional and suits the subject and tone of the site much better!

Looking forward to seeing the finished version here and also having chance to play around with some customisation of it for my site assuming you'll be releasing it as a theme.

I like the theme, looks like a big step up from what is currently on the site and I think it fits the site's theme really well. It's still a bit plain for my tastes, but I think it certainly has the room to dress it up later if circumstances call for it. Can't wait to see it in action!

I agree with you about the additional load. But it seem the new theme (bottom) also will have "Top Post" and "New Comments". This theme (TypoXP Reloaded) is using Scriptculous framework. Like you said, the JS frameworks open some possibilities to add the effect and etc.

If suckerfish menu is selected, then this theme also need Tab Menu for that.

Whatever it's selected, we just leave this "tweaking note" to the developer team. ;)

I was going to say.. oh.. its ajax, its not SEO friendly.. but I was mistaken

its not ajax, its just plain old JS so its fine.

Only downside is that it requires JQuery which is a 50k JS file.. not the end of the world. The issue starts to get if you use other JS projects that use other big JS packages as well (prototype, etc). You currently use prototype, scriptactulous, etc 160kb of JS.. adding another 50k is pretty rediculous.

210k of JS that the broswer needs to download (and cache) isnt really a problem, but forcing users' browsers to have to parse and process that is a bit more of a pain. Also having it set up in 22 separate JS files is also a bit of a pain as well.. each HTTP request adds extra load time to the site...

Not trying to be nitpicky, but its something to look at cleaning up for the new version ;)

the jquery menus are nice, but if you arent already using jquery for anything you might want to check out just a vanilla dropdown menu system like

its like 10 lines of JS and no dependencies on other libs. still just as SEO friendly, still degrades well.. whatever.

the new theme is really nice... give it a trial run on a demo site so we can see how it looks as a live site...i am really curious to see your logo ..it should be innovative and attractive as Nirmal said.

Point #19. Use an Ajax menus like http://jdsharp.us/jQuery/pl.... Lots option of drop down menu that search engine friendly. No need footer squeeze.

The logo makes the header look more interesting. The thing to focus on John really is the layout, as the colours, fonts and font sizes are things we can play with when we start coding

Maybe I'm just difficult, but I prefer the current theme. In particular I don't like the black background. It might look a lot better when you get the logo back however.

I originally wanted to do that, have top posts this week and all time, but at the moment the mint popular posts can only generate one list at a time. Until I find a better solution the 'more top posts' is the temporary fix

I think the header is cool. The current top posts is fine. I think you can make it like this: first tab -> Top posts of this week, second tab -> top posts this month and finally the comments tab. About the money makers layout you showed here, i think they will really have a good CTR.

The theme looks good, especially the arrangement. I think you can customize the header a bit more. The title "Connected Internet" can be bit more attractive.

I like the new layout. I especially like the black background, it's easy on the eyes. It looks more professional too, plus it looks like more room for advertisements in the sidebar...maybe that will give room for improvement over lasts months earnings!
