  • Brown Baron · 2 years ago
I've been a member of the dofollow community ever since I saw Andy Beard's post about it. He even has a dofollow community in Bumpzee for those interested. Good to hear you're switching sides EB heh.
  • Everton · 2 years ago
I've had dofollow on my site for a while, I just having promoted it. I'll hopefully add the logo today
  • green · 2 years ago
Waiting for the logo. Btw, i never applied no follow issue, even i had wanted my application was hard coded, so it was difficult to change core.
  • Zath · 2 years ago
I've been using dofollow ever since I started my blog on the back of your advice Everton and put the logo up about a month ago - definitely worthwhile I think, I surprised that there are some other fairly large blogs out there that do have this plugin enabled, let alone displaying the image!
  • Dennis Bjørn Petersen · 2 years ago
I joined the movement 3 weeks ago. I haven't experienced any increase in spam or other side effects ;)
  • Dexter · 2 years ago
NIce to know that you are using a do follow on your comment. a site like your will have a big impact on our website.. Thanks for this one..
  • Mike · 2 years ago
I've just switched to DoFollow and it feels so liberating!
  • Ashish Mohta · 2 years ago
I would like to use but then I will remove theTop Comm list. The problem with this is people tend to exploit as it stays for a week. If I have regular good commentators I will surely do
  • Kara · 2 years ago
Thanks for the heads up on this awesome idea...I also found a plug in called Better Comment Manager which gives me the option to reply in the comment section of my Word Press admin dashboard. Might be something that most already knew about because I'm pretty new to the Word Press World but so far-a very happy camper!
    Thanks for your posts:-)

    thares for sharing.
    i will take a trial.
  • Cade · 2 years ago

This is a great movement. I feel like it has brought a lot of bloggers closer together and has allowed for a lot more networkings. I think that I have seen a good deal of benefit because I have been able to learn from talented bloggers like Courtney Tuttle. It is a great source for Blog SEO. How has it helped you?

  • Rob · 2 years ago
Yep, I signed up. In fact, I'm promoting the occasional "100 Comments" campaign whereby I ask a question to build a TOP list about a subject. Right now I'm running "What Not To Do In The Gym" as a way to build a Gym Etiquette listing. Then get it published and have as many people start to advertise and follow the gym rules.

The post is at What Not To Do In The Gym

So far I've got 9 comments

I haven't yet posted the U Comment, I Follow yet, but I may. It's not really fitting with the theme of my site. Maybe I'll design my own buttons?

If you've got something that Really Pisses you off about what happens in the gym, go add your comment
  • Cade · 2 years ago
I think that this plugin has offered a lot to a lot of people. I have been able to build some strong networks and I think that there is a lot to be said about finding out more about other blogs out there. I feel like I have learned so much about SEO from this. Any benefits that you have seen?
  • Ajay M · 2 years ago
Yeah I hv signed long back....
  • Rob · 2 years ago
Everton, do you realize that your plugin for the myavatars in the comments thing is still displaying Italian when you mouseover the MyBlogLog images? It's the alt text or title editable in the plugin editor (I believe it is). I could never get the avatars to show up, but I saw a lot of Italian in there.
  • Everton · 2 years ago
Arwe you talking about my plugin or the one that displays avatars next to comments?
  • Ken Xu · 2 years ago
Sure! This sound promising. I will apply this plugin to my blog. :)
  • Rob · 2 years ago
Next to the comments, not your plugin
  • Everton · 2 years ago
oh-no idea why. Is it just on my site?
  • Kakafan · 2 years ago
I think Messi and Kaka should be on the cover.
  • ForumeR · 2 years ago
I joined this campaign, but unfortunately, i saw many that use this button not following my comment. I don;t know whether they put this button as an accessories to looks pretty only or what huhu

    Best regards
    :)
  • Chris · 2 years ago
The U comment I follow movement is a great way to increase blog participation at the end of the day if you want to leave a comment the last thing you want is for it to be moderated by some backdoor piece of code. I for one have implemented the DoFollow plugin on my blogs and hope more people do so in the future.
  • bharadwaj · 2 years ago
    Hi,

Everybody loves links. Even the google bot, but it does not like non- genuine links.

For instance, some time ago, google had a controversy over following paid links.

Now for a spider or a crawler to identify the paid links from non-paid is almost impossible.

But in most CMS , including wordpress and blogspot, it is very easy to identify comments from content. The algothirm to detect comments as links is quite easy.

do - follow may go void, if google thinks so. So do you think , it is worth all these?

But still, it does good in the short term..
  • dude alert! · 2 years ago
"i will follow him.. follow him wherever he may go.."

i am just about to sign up.
  • BeachBum · 2 years ago
I think all spiders should follow no matter what the nofollow tag says. At any rate thanks for the post. I am going to guess that this movement helps blog publishers get more comments which add content to their blogs.

  • said brussels · 2 years ago
ok thanks i will take a look at it.
  • syam · 2 years ago

how to do this in blogger blog? Can any one explain?

  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @syam

Not sure, but I'm sure Google will turn up the answer pretty quickly
  • Michael Lankton · 2 years ago
Did you stop using the plugin? A quick check on some of your comments still shows rel="nofollow" on most if not all of the comments when I took a peek at your page source.
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @mlankton

now that you mention it, a lot of comments have had 'nofollow' added recently, despite the plugin being on. Maybe a recent WP update has affected it - will check. Thanks for the heads up
  • Michael Lankton · 2 years ago
I did see that I got a link from you. You must also have a plugin that only strips the nofollow after X number of comments? Anyway, thank you.

    ps.
Holy Cow, have you seen your Technorati authority lately? Nice work.
  • Everton · 2 years ago
lol my technorati rank is going the worng way - i was ranked 252 but I've crept up to just under 500 over the last 2 weeks.
  • Frucomerci · 2 years ago
Always nice to see another “u comment i follow” blogger!!
  • Blogger Blog Tips · 2 years ago
I haven't done that yet but I will probably its a wise choice
  • Aneesh · 2 years ago
Nice to see another do follow blog like mine

    Simple Tricks
  • Neil · 2 years ago
The good thing with dofollow links as oppose to nofollow, is that it can actual help a websites listings, Google will spider the site and realise that the content update, the more comments the updates which for your site as a whole is a very good way to encourage user generated content, the phenomenon of nofollow has been taken to strongly, people even try getting reciprocal links add a no follow to it, very sneaky. If your using wordpress make sure you install Askimet, this plugin will eliminate much of the spam from automated blogging programs, also look out for the occasional "I found your post very interesting and have similar views myself", spammers are getting smarter so my thoughts are keep dofollow's it can only do your site good, so giving a link away is your way of saying thanks for the free content.

    hailz!
also i use that do-follow plugin. But where is the community? how can i reach and sing up?
  • Sasha T. · 2 years ago
I allow links at my blog (even though there aren't many of them :( ) if the comment makes sense but I do not have a "Top commentators" plugin yet... I may have to consider it...

  • Sean McGoldrick · 2 years ago
I don't think removing the nofollow does anything to increase spam, since nofollow does nothing to prevent it anyway! All nofollow does is prevent people getting good pagerank. If you use Wordpress askimet will handle your spam for you.
  • James · 2 years ago
This sound interesting. Might as well try this on my other blogs. Thanks
  • Ross Hill · 2 years ago
No! It attracts way too much spam guys.
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @ross

Not true at all - I haven't had a problem
  • alzheimers · 2 years ago
i will certainly join this movement in a few days, trying to figure out exact steps to configure my blog accordingly. This movement should be backed up by everyone who is a real blogger. Moderation can always solve spam problems.
  • Smackall · 2 years ago
I am still thinking if it is really useful. I never bothered to see what it is.
  • Indulgence · 2 years ago
I am still waiting for a refund which I suppose to have received in June 2007. After e-mails, international call, etc... Still waiting for the money!!!
They said they sent the money but we have never received...
Trading Standards has investigated the case and although we have proven that Pixmania has never made the refund, Pixmania hasn't done anything to solve it. Trading Standards are not a legal advice organisation, hence they cannot give you legal advice, they can only try to help you in a friendly manner. USELESS with Pixmania.
We are issuing them a court summons. We are aware they have been already taken few times to court and lost. We will claim the refund money + interest + administrative cost (calls, time wasted with them)
I think everyone should do the same, as it is the only way to fight back with shameless company.
I can give details if required. Do not let them take your money!!!!
  • SEO Salesman · 1 year ago
I agree that some people will probably spam, but at the end of the day most commenters will not fall into this bracket.

A blog with no comments looks like a blog with no readers = uninteresting...!
  • Thomas · 1 year ago
wow, these are great tips. everyone interested in making money with adsense should print it and stick it next to their computer.
    great work

  • Jenish Shah · 1 year ago
Great comments and keep encouraging the movement further. It should not die or wither out
  • unTECHy · 1 year ago
It seems like nearly all “I follow” blogs on the web are PR0 or PR ‘n/a’.

It’s hard to find anyone with a PR1+ that follows. As a PR2 blog, I applaud you for following.
  • hijinks · 1 year ago
This is great for the blogging community. All blogger should be doing the do follow!
  • George Lindemann Jr · 1 year ago
I think that this is one of the best way to motivate users to comment, the bad of this is that u can´t know when a comment is a good one or not.
  • muzammal · 1 year ago
I have singned up to many blogs to get some back links  for my wbeisites. However I will recommend to join niche  related blogs which will  probably more beneficial for you
  • North London Boy · 1 year ago
Great movement but surely it's only a matter of time before Google slam this door firmly shut.
  • brokencode · 1 year ago
what no-follow ? you still put no follow tag in comment. don't cheat your readers !

Glad to have another dofollow blog to visit!:-

Your blog is already doing so well so this would be more of a “thank you” to your readers, I guess.
  • Matt Keegan · 10 months ago
My blogs are set up to allow comments, but they cannot be brief (one-liners) nor do I approve comments that are "attaboy" in nature.

U Follow/I Follow is meant to remind people that their comments are welcome, but they have to be relevant. In other words, spammers need not stop by!
  • Naruto · 5 months ago
    support doFollow Movement ... :D
  • Steve · 5 months ago
I have converted all my sites except for 3 which I am using disqus on.
  • Jessica · 4 months ago
    Hi,
Dofollow is good but unfortunately as Google continues to refine their algorithm to discount spammy links and moves toward semantic search, and considering that most blogs have a low pagerank, I don’t foresee the benefit of do follow links continuing much longer. I also think this will contribute to Google losing relevance as eventually the only search results you will get are for mega conglomerate organizations that have been around forever.
    Regards,
    Jessica
.-= Jessica´s last blog ..Rupee sees highest rise in 2 months =-.
  • Ralph · 4 months ago
That's very cynical, Jessica! Although, I see your point about the only results coming from big coporates as they begin to grasp SEO and spend millions to get every spot on page one for every type of keyword. What recommendation in link building would you have then Jessica if do follow links aren't the way to go?
  • Detroit Lions · 4 months ago
    I am on board.
  • SEO Birmingham Guy · 2 months ago
This is one of the many hang ups spoiling it for the bloggers, a blog is about spreading content and thoughts, I feel it should be less about limiting its reach to search engine users.
