Connected Internet: Build A Windows Home Server For $400

  • John · 1 year ago
I noticed one of the PC mags (PC Pro I think) currently has an article on building a PC for £100. I'm not sure if it was up to spec for WHS but it looked pretty impressive for £100!

£100= $200, so by the time you add on the OS and a bigger HDD you're almost there.

Currently my main desktop PC is the computer with all the files that get accessed around the house - so this pc is always turned on.

I'm very tempted to look into this option now that I've got decent desktop and HTPCs set up.

It's definitely the way forward.  My spec is a X2 4200, 2GB of ram (could easily get away with 1GB), a basic mobo and a £30 case with PSU built-in which I chucked all my existing HDDs in.  You can build that easily for just over £100 and then get the OEM version of WHS for around £70 I think.
