Connected Internet: Broadband Speed Test

  • pararealist · 3 years ago
i am getting quite fed up with NTL services at the moment. Things seem to be going wrong, the speeds are never correct i am on 4 Mb and rarely get over 2 Mb.
    Thinking of a change.
  • Everton Blair · 3 years ago
ntl:Telewest are a very interesting company - basically Telewest's network and customer service is good, and ntl's is bad. Hopefully, ntl will get up to Telewest standards by the time the company rebrands as Virgin Media.
  • neil · 3 years ago
i agree NTl is also giving me reasons to goto another internet provider, about a month ago i upgraded to 10meg broadband with them but have never reached speds of more then 2, and with the 2 it rarely stays at that speed it soon drops to below 1 and have recntly been gettng speeds of less then 50kbps..
  • BlackMagic · 2 years ago
Im only on 2mb on NTL and get 1989 kbps.
    Awesome.
You lot are getting done lol.
And who ever designed this site is obviously more orientated around advertising than usability.
Couldnt find the fkin speed test on here amongst the 5ooo adverts.
    What a load a #ank.

    Sort it out :-p

Another good, accurate speed test you might want to try is at my broadband comparisons site (broadbandgenie): broadband speed test

Would definitely appreciate any feedback on it. National average so far appears to be 4.1mb!
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @Phil

It gave me results of anything between 6.2 and 12.2Mb - I'm on on 10Mbps at the moment. I started a big download in usenet to test and I got a constant 9.4Mbps
  • Don Brontes · 2 years ago
I live by these speed test tools. It's helped me choose my cable internet and my residential t1 line. Comparing ISPs is a good feature. However, results seem to vary from test site to test site so folks should keep in mind they're not always to be trusted wholeheartedly.
  • James · 2 years ago
I have myself a page dedicate broadband and I have a few Broadband Speed Test solutions. They are all free and I am not charging a penny. I have an online test and three downloads too for more accuracy.
  • NTL Customer · 2 years ago
Since february, virgin/ntl broadband has significantly deterioated. Pre feb 2007, 4mb was giving average speeds of 3850 for servers in UK, Europe and East coast USA. Since then, speeds have dropped at least 50% in UK and at least 65% in Europe and a massive 90% to east coast usa servers. Currently trying to sort out with ntl/virgin. They say nothing wrong!! My diagnostic reports say otherwise!! The excuses they give are very entertaining!! Was previously happy with technical side of service but would not recommend now. Too many problems cropping up and they denying all knowledge.
  • NTL Customer · 2 years ago
By the way, I use Dan Elwells Broadband Speed test (Full version). Most comprehensive I have used and gives a total of 39 tests covering Ping Times, Packet Loss, Download speeds to UK, Europe and East Coast USA, Upload speeds to UK and Trace Routes to various destinations throughout the world. Gives option to easily save reports and Email to ISP, if required. Reassuring to know, if you have to get in to any legal issues with your ISP, it is unlikely they will be able to argue with the amount of evidence you can give.
  • george · 2 years ago
I was with Telewest for 5 years never had any probs untill they merged with Ntl.Was paying for up to 4mg at a cost of £25 a month, never got above 2 mg,dropped the package down to 2mg exactly the same speed.Saved myself £7 a month.
Eventually got fed up with the crap service I was getting off them and switched to Sky.Should have done it a long time ago.
Up to 8mg with sky receiving constantly 4 mg,cant beat it.
  • Ajay M · 2 years ago
Thanks Everton. I checked mine and it is amazingly 512.

Grumble. Gonna call tech support and throw two phone books at them.

They quote up to 8mb download but best I get is 175kb/s.
    Desperately need to switch!!
  • Penge · 2 years ago
Rubbish speeds with Virgin Cable UK. Tantamount to fraud, if you ask me. Paying for 2mb and getting less than 1mb most of the time, and a frustrating 300-700 kbs late evening and night. Capping or Throttling or traffic shaping, call it what you want, I call it fraud, since I'm paying for 2mb, I should be getting 2mb, not this short change.
  • TILIVAY · 2 years ago
TISCALI is literaly CRAP, i just upgraded my package from 2mb to 8, even my telefone line test say that im capable of getting upto 6.5 mb, but i only get 500 odd kb/s :-0..wth!
  • sparky · 2 years ago
just checked mine and i am with virgin media and paying for the basic 2mb package which is coming in at 1951kb. cant complain with that!!!
  • JP · 2 years ago
check your virginmedia it after 5pm and after you've had the service for a few days and you'll see the speed dropping to pathetic levels.
  • coheed and cambria · 2 years ago
my service providings: virgin media 2mb broadband
    date 11/11/07
    down speed 1784 kps
    up speed 161 kps
happy with the download speeds but unsure what the up speeds mean they should be more than 161 kps on 2mb broadband i would think.
    anyway great speed tester
  • Mitt · 2 years ago

    Speed Downloading: 1120 Kps ( just over 1Mbps )
Speed Uploading: 631 Kps ( Just over half a Mbps )

    I pay for 20Mbps @ £37.00 a month

I'm with talktalk.net and was promised speeds of up to 3.0 mps the test showed 348kps download!!dial up would be cheaper and almost just as fast! have had the same thing with orange who even charged me to up the speed which din't happen, getting really cheesed with these people who seem to advertise a service and then can't provide it, Trading Standards take note we are being ripped off big time
  • Moonraker · 2 years ago
I changed to Telewest cable (now Virgin Media) because BT couldn't even give me the 2Mb speed I was paying for. The test shows I am getting the full 2Mb download now. Only 0.25Mb upload but that doesn't concern me as I don't upload much (I don't maintain a website or anything). I also took the Virgin telephone service and dumped BT altogether, which saved me £5 a month.
  • B Stanic · 2 years ago
During the day, there does not tend to be too much of an issue with Virgin. The problem occurs when their Traffic Management system kicks in. To get a fair reflection of what the download speeds are, you need to do at least 4 tests throughout the day, especially, between 5pm and midnight. Also, since virgin took over mid feb, download speeds from Websites outside the UK are significantly down on what they used to be, irrespective, of the time of day.

Since Virgin's main client base are the 2MB users, it is not surprising those users are less effected. A Senior Virgin Technician told me, one of the reasons why Traffic Management was introduced, was to make sure 2MB users were not given a bad deal because of 4Mb and 20Mb users using the bandwidth.

Haven't got an issue with that, however, since 4MB and 20MB are paying more, they should receive at least a 50% discount on the additional amount they pay each month, representing the amount of time during the day where their service stinks. Fortunately, I use the Internet mostly during the day when the speeds are much quicker. I feel sorry for those customers who are paying for the faster services but do not get to use the Internet until they get home from work, or whereever.

Unfortunately, I believe all the main suppliers are as bad as each other about their over rated, published speeds. It is all hype and it is about time the government did something about it. However, since it is all about "big business", not much hope there I am afraid.

  • james · 2 years ago
ntl aka virgin media im paying 4 2meg and i get 2 meg
  • Kurt · 2 years ago
VirginMedia have a capping (traffic shaping) policy which I wasn't aware of when I joined, and which you may not have been aware of either. They won't tell you about it when you join up because they don't want to lose customers. But this is the deal: if you download more than 350mb before 4pm during the day, then your download speed is cut in half from 4pm to 12am. So if you're on 2mb and you download more than 350mb before 4pm, you'll get 1mb after 4pm onwards. That's short change in my book.

You can test this out by using this speed test after downloading the limit (350). Try it and see for yourself.

What I have discovered though is that VirginMedia play hard and fast with their own rules. Usually what happens it that your restricted download speed (if you used up the limit during the day) is not reset after 12am, but usually much later, say 8 or 9am.

I've complained to Virgin about misleading customers. And I'd advised everybody to complain to the advertising standards agency, as well as OFCOM.
  • jake · 2 years ago
im with tiscali 2mb unlimited, ive tested it using diiferent sites and at no time in the last 2 weeks have i got faster that 1mb , most of the time its actually around 750 , any ideas of what i can do about this ??
  • John Simpson · 2 years ago
Using the speedtest tool at various times since getting broadband, and at various times of the day, has exposed the problem of my ISP - Talktalk. The problem is the disconnects that have become prevalent since my local exchange was unbundled in April 2007, prior to which I was getting a reliable and satisfactory 512kbps service. Although my download speed can now be been near the 2Mbps mark, speed massively drops off and the connection routinely disconnects when traffic gets busy late afternoon and evening. No amount of helpdesk calls have fixed the reliable connection problem. I believe Talktalk simply doesn't have the bandwith for the number of customers it continues to tout for.

bt total advertise up to 8Mb My street is capable of up to 3Mb and I get 340 Kbps upload and 416 Kbps download. So does ANYONE get decent speeds or are we being conned by adverts?
  • Jam · 2 years ago
Been with virgin.mediocre for a couple of years. We seem to have an agreement that I faithfully pay them £17.99 a month for up to 8mb broadband and in return they give me an average download speed of 1mb and an average upload speed of 300kb. Why don't I shift provider? That fellow Branson has a scary mouth of teeth and I don't want to upset him now that he may be between Northern Rock and a hard place. But he is testing my patience.
  • Nobby · 2 years ago
I spent ages checking all this sort of stuff whilst searching for a cheap broadband package. Rather pleased with BT Broadband option 2 and now I've stopped looking at speeds etc I just enjoy the connection - as long as it does the job don't fret about the difference of a few seconds per download.
  • IMACOMPUTERBUDDIE · 2 years ago
IM TOALLY FED UP WIHT PEOPLE DOWNLOADING MOVIES AS EVERY TIME THEY DO MY SPEED DROPS TO A CRAWL. IM PAYING FOR 8mg SOMETIMES I BARELY GET 512kb. IM COMVICED THE WHOLE THING IS GOING TO EMPLOD UNDER THE STRAIN. WHICH OF COURSE IS DOWN TO BT NOT DOING THE UPGRADE. WHEN BROADBAND WENT IN WHERE I LIVE BT ONLY MADE PROVISOINS FOR 300 USERS.AS FAR AS I KNOW THEIR ARE CURRENTLY AROUND 700 USERS. SO NO WONDER IT GOES TO A CRAWL, HAVE CONTACTED VIRGIN ABOUT THE SLOW SPEED AND GOT NO RESOPONCE FROM THEM.

With Virgin Media, on a 20MB connection (!!!), terrible speeds almost all the time....

This test done today (17/12/2007) at 17.30PM:

    Download 352Kbps
    Upload 50Kbps

This is very common. Considering we have an Xbox 360 Live connection, speeds like this means online gaming is impossible.
  • denys · 2 years ago
RE VIRGIN BROADBAND 12 MONTHS AGO IT WAS VERY GOOD BUT NOW THE SPEED HAS DROPED AS LOW AS 104 KBPS THE BEST READING IVE HAD WAS 2104KBPS AV. AROUND 1100KBPS NOT GOOD WHEN I SHOULD BE GETTING 6 TO 6.5MB WHICH I PAY FOR, MY ADVICE DONT BOTHER WITH VIRGIN MEDIA THEY ALWAYS INSIST WE DONT HAVE A PROBLEM IT,S ALWAYS SOMEBODY ELSE'S FAULT,

    1736kbps downstream

  • Terry · 2 years ago
Tiscali £14.99 includes free line rental, weekend calls (01 & 02 numbers), free calls to selected countries and 2Mb Broadband.

Speed Test reveals intermittent speeds from nearly 2 Mb - 520 Kb for downloads, uploads always seem to be around 208 - 512 Kb.

Have been with Tiscali (in their various guises) for some years now, have had drop outs from time to time, possible cable or exchange faults, going through a good patch at the moment, if you have a laid back attitude then would recommend them, if you must have a connection which is perfect all the time - please let us all know where we subscribe!! Regards Terry

orange! dont do it, the phones are great but the bb sucks,i should be getting 8mb/s and i am getting 520k !!!! my exchange limits me to
4mb/s but i never download more than 200ish mb/s, i game a fair bit so do i need to get virgin cable? or will bt or sky LLU-based stuff be a better bet? why are we not getting at least asdl2? only two places in uk cant get it yetand south bucks/berks border is it!!! i pay the same to bt as everyone else and they wont do anything!!! praps i shld refuse to pay my bill.....
  • Jimmy · 2 years ago
Like John and Denys (above) and others here I'm with Virgin and getting a terrible service. Signed up for 2mb and even when not downloading or haven't downloaded anything for days, we still get a poxy 1mb capped or less than that during the day, early hours, any time really. The service is rubbish. Customer services do nothing about it. They just make excuses. We need to do something about this, and complain. Like someone on here suggested, we should all write to OFCOM or whoever and let them know what a bunch of crooks Virgin are.
  • Shaun V · 2 years ago
I have BT internet 8Mb which tests at 6.3Mb download & 350Kb upload. Is this ok? In the light of recent publicity I'm not sure whether I should complain or not.
  • Lallafa · 2 years ago
I use BT Broadband, a 2mb connection. I've tried 4 different UK-based DSL test sites and they all show roughly 1.8-1.9mb. So I'm actually relieved to see I'm getting 80-90% of what I'm paying for...which is not bad seeing as how broadband seems to vary so greatly depending on the quality of the line, etc! :)
  • Sid · 2 years ago
I get broadband, phone, line rental & T.V. from Tiscali. My speed is 6 Mbps with T.V. off and 4 Mbps with it on, I'm paying for "up to 8 Mbps". When the engineer installed the set top box he said I was getting 8.1 but the T.V. would take about 3 of that.
My one complaint about Tiscali is their Customer Services. You have to ring an 0871 number, go through several long menus and are then left on hold for ages. When you do get through they can only answer one query and can't transfer you to another section, so you have to go through it all again! I found a landline number on "say no to 0870" which is for Customer Retentions, that gets answered immediately and the staff are much more helpful (just say you are fed up with the service and are thinking of switching).
  • Guy · 2 years ago
Saw the press reports about broadband speed and thought I would find out what ours was - tested it and it was around 400Kbps, some sixteenth of what we subscribe to with Supanet. Rang up their customer service and pointed this out nicely, acheived about a 50% reduction in our subscription - tested the speed again the next morning and we are now getting a speed of around 6.6Mbps - very pleased!
  • wayne · 2 years ago
hi we just done the test and iam suprised that its CRAP, we are on wireless 8meg with orange and are download speed is 128kbs and the upload is less at 115kbs. the furture bright with orange.....

I pay for Tiscali 2Mb broadband on 26-12-2007 at 2155hrs gives me only the following.

    Download 160Kbps
    Upload 207Kbps

    Surely that's fraud?

    Regards Terry

27/12/07 down 912 up 209 via talktalk.net I'm getting less than half of what I pay for??? do the same thing with petrol or any other goods/service and we all would burn the places down, Trading Standards useless or not interested too busy looking after the big companies logos on clothes
Interestingly complain and you are told only BTs broadband speed checker is their standard and others are rubbish, only trouble is by signing with talktalk you no longer have a bt line and they refuse to check, Catch 22 or what!!!!

  • Curlykale · 2 years ago
My Virginmedia 2mb has slowed to a crawl, I had to phone their technical staff, 25p per minute, only to be told that I had been restricted for heavy use!!!!! I don't download films and don't play online games. I've been away for a week at Xmas and can't believe that I'm getting around 96kps upload and 72kps download. Go to their site and it states 'unlimited' downloads on this service.
The guy with atrocious pronunciation kept arguing " Dat you rrr a heaby downloaderrrr." I am not and I have to pay for the call to be told that I'm restricted!?!?
Rubbish, lying, *!ck?*s! Shame because up until this happened, I was quite happy and had a v+ box installed (brilliant!) but now they go and ruin it. I'm leaving them but where to go?
  • Sid · 2 years ago
Hi Curlykale, Saw your comments about your ISP. I agree about the ridiculous charges for calling customer services / technical support. I get free calls to 01 & 02 numbers and many international numbers, yet I have to pay premium rates to call the company that provides the service, plus they keep you on hold for about 20 minutes! My tip is check the "Say no to 090" website for a landline number for Customer Retentions and tell them you are not satisfied and wish to leave. The call will be answered in seconds and they will fall over themselves to keep your custom. If that doesn't work then you might like to check out Tiscali. I am getting about 6.5 Mbs on their "up to 8 Mbs" package which includes phone line, calls, TV & broadband (the TV takes about 2 Mbs of that if it's on while your on line). Hope this is useful to you.

I live in an area where all providers tell me that our distance from the exchange means a maximum potential speed of 2Mb/s with our contracted speed @ 1Mb/s. We pay TALK TALK £10 per month for the privilege of this lightning fast connection.

According to Speedtouch which monitors out TALK TALK connection status we should be on 1Mb/s constantly. The actual speed on this test site came in @ 856kb/s and 205 kb/s for download and upload respectively.

Customer service from TALK TALK is very poor and the connection frequently "breaks" in the course of the day prompting a manual reconnect.
  • Bert Henderson · 1 year ago

I am on Virgin's basic 1Mb bb service, and get 976 kb/215 kb, so I suppose that's about as good as you'd get (though speedtest.com gives me slightly better - 995 kb at best).
I'm not tempted to pay for (slightly) higher speeds !

It's about time someone got the ISP's to be honest about the service they provide.

The 54Mbps you are seeing is the speed of the wireless network the homehum has created for you i.e. how fast it can transfer data to your PC. the speed of your internet connection is totally different and you need to do a speed test to do this (although I seem to remember the hub displaying a speed in it's admin screens)

I have been with NTL for over 12mths but over the last few weeks my broadband speed is down to 1meg and less when they advertise up to 2meg.
It is hopeless trying to complain, the telephone number on there web site has been changed.
When you finally get through to there techincal people it is costing 10p connection plus 25p per minute and then to top it all you are now talking to an Indian lady who takes one through a proceedure were by you are on the internet checking your download speed.
The lady just could not understand that in the daylight hours my download speed maybe 1.8meg but evenings it my drop to 0.8meg which is hopeless.
Her final remark was that when it happens again I ring there technical.
Not a cat in hells chance.
    Joe.

I am with virgin media (NTL) three weeks ago I tested my connection (20mb) and it came up as being very poor, so I got in touch with virgin and they sent an engineer around to take a look, this resulted in my modem being changed but then guess what my connection was even worse so I got back on the phone and they sent a tech guy around he changed my modem again and then told me that for some time and for the next three weeks the broadband connections have been running slow due to some software issue, so I check my connection and find it still running at less than 2mb, in the last few days the connection does seem to be improving but is still not what I am paying for which brings me to the main point, I have been paying top money for a connection that is and has been sub-standard and virgin have been happy to take my money without telling me officially that there is a problem with the network which means in my book that virgin media owes me. They have one week left to get things right.

I am with AOL Wireless! It says 54 MPBS!

Its awful slow and im lucky to get to get 2 days of fast internet!

This is my results... Download 120 KBPS... Upload 336 KBPS
What the hell is wrong! thats not even a Meg !!

I would be very greatful if someone could tell me:)

    @Liam

The 54MBPS is the speed of your wireless connection, not your internet connection. The speeds you have quoted are low, but I would perform the test over a wired connection before drawing any conclusions.

Virgin media, cable 2 Mb connection read 2.056 Mb so can't be faulted: excellent!
  • Virgin/NTL User · 1 year ago
Yeah, right! Spot the Virgin Employee. When I was on the 2MB connection, I monitored it religiously and never got above 1880, which is perfectly acceptable. Because of the connection overhead that applies to all Internet connections, it is, virtually, impossible or unheard of to get the published speed. Therefore, the last post was obviously dreaming (not unheard of) or, most likely, is a someone who thinks we were all born yesterday.

Currently using Supanet upto 8mb. I know that my line can handle upto 4mb but cannot get beyond 512mbps all night from 6 in eve till 2200hrs - Supanet what a load of rubbish thankfully i only pay 7.99 will be changing shortly dont worry.
  • Robin · 1 year ago
I am also with Supanet. Nothing but trouble generally. My line from the exchange will only carry 1.5mbs so I am on a 1mb service. In the evenings I was getting 0.17mbs and I had a moan at them. They changed my account to adifferent server and I am now up to speed nearly all the time. Don't put up with poor service - have a moan at them - every day like I did.

I've checked my speed with and without firewall enabled and both come out roughly the same, eg crap.
600Kbs-800Kbs on a broadband internet connection thats supposed to be 3600Kbs.
If you complain to the ISP they just say it must be your computer, but my processor speed has been measured as 2.6 GHz.
A lot of programs are running on my machine and pausing the firewall got the interest of security shield, and then theirs defender with a firewall and IE7 with a firewall and anti phishing and everything, so maybe these are part of the reason for slow downloads which make it difficult to watch a video.

    talk talk again.
    8 meg promised..... you decide:
    D/L was 3080 average
    U/L was 196 (!)

leave the choice up to you, but consider the connection charge (£30 last time I looked),the upfront payment system and the hefty 18 month contract.
however, still cheaper than virgin, the phone line is excellent, not charged for their customer support calls, 3 hour free calls to other talk talk customers(!) and i don't have to have some useless drivel coming through my tv screen!!
Nice website by the way. Thanks, its on my faves now
  • Tony · 1 year ago
I average 450kbps download and 58kbps upload from my 3.6mbps 3 Mobile service, and from posts elsewhere it seems that's the same figure many mobile broadband users see. I was told by both the salesman and 3 customer services that 3.6mbps is what I should get and that speeds would be would be scarcely affected by network conditions, but this afternoon (Sunday) it hardly worked at all for hours.
It is if I bought a car advertised as having a top speed of 120 mph and found that it is only capable of averaging 15 on a good day, so I am preparing to sue 3 for misrepresentation if they won't cancel my contract. (See the Which? Broadband Report in October 2007 for how to complain to, and if necessary sue, your ISP).

I get an average of 1mb download and 250kb upload on my T-Mobile service through a HSDPA phone. Service is pretty consistent and good enough to watch streming video (BBC iPlayer).
Sorry to hear 3 is bad, it should certainly work all the time. However, there's no way I'd expect 3.6mb through a mobile connection, I think that's the current HSDPA theoretical maximum.

Moved house a month ago. After 2 weeks of messing about (of their doing!) finally got connection with Tiscali. Should be 8mb but have had nothing but problems - recent speed test shows 384Khps download and 322Khps upload!!!!!

We had Sky before the move (and were quite happy) but when we told them of the move they said they couldn't provide a service for us in the new area. Then we suddenly got cut off 3 weeks before our move date - all they could say was 'Whoops'.

Outstandingly terrible customer service from both companies when things have gone wrong! Maybe it would help if the support teams on both companies actually spoke English!!!!

O2 Premium is a brilliant service with top-class (and free) customer service. For £10 a month (as an O2 mobile user) I'm now getting over 13Mbps down and around 1Mbps up - and unlimited downloads too. It was about 10Mbps down until I called them today and pointed out my line stats were showing a very low figure for Output power on the downside - they fixed it immediately and performance jumped to 13Mbps.

I'm with Virgin, on their 20mb broadband.
    Download Speed: 15800kbps
    Upload Speed: 720kbps
I have the tv, phone and broadband package, and in total I pay only £31 per month, so I'm pretty happy with my connection speed.
  • David · 1 year ago
Broadband speeds are a sales gimmick... the maximum speeds depend on the amount of traffic etc, but more important the distance from a cable service box... or the distance from the telephone exchange for land line customers, to get the top speeds given by BT for example you litterally have to live on top of the exchange.

My gripe is I'm on VM 2mb package today it was just under 2mb but the upload was only 244Kb.

Don't waste time complaining to your ISP you'll get nowhere... complain here they have reps in almost all major ISPs.

    http://www.ispa.org.uk/cgi-bin/complaints.cgi

simply fill the on-lne form in, and the rep's will give whoever a kick up the backside.

first i was with virgin for few years & i thought time for a change.contact sky broadband 8mb package then test the download speed & to my horror it only gives out 133kps.told sky not happy with speed & they were not helpful about sorting out the problem.so i ask them to cancel the broadband package & went for o2 standard package(£12.50) a month.(That cheaper than sky & virgin). test download speed & woah!! 4390kps & upload 890kps.it depends how far your exchange is.(i am 2.5km away from exchange).i notice some people can't get better speed, first thing is to check your master socket, pull out the faceplate & you see a another socket inside, plug your microfilter there and try it.hope that helps.

Your (BBC page) checker showing around 400kb but when I use a link on your page (broadband.org) and then try their speed checking it shows around 1500kb, plus upload speed shows alot greater too ?

Which one is right, quite a difference, anyone else getting the same response ?

I have checked a few times and not changed programs that were open etc.. I even made sure all AV off to ensure best speed could be acheived, I have just moved to std Sky bundle from BT (for info).

Can anyone help???  I'm reviewing my ISP and TV package - currently got BT for Broadband and SKY tv package.  Was thinking about ditching SKY and taking BT Vision with Setanta instead.  I've done checks on a variety of websites and they all show i never reach 2mbs - averages between 1.2-1.6.  (I've tested it morning/afternoon/evening on workdays and weekends as i work mainly from home).  However, when i spoke to BT sales today, the guy told me that their tests showed that i'm capable of receiving up to 3.2, and that their tests showed that i'm 'green' for signing up for a new BT broadband contract plus Vision.  I've been told by Vision that you MUST have a guaranteed minimum of 2mb for it to work.

I re-did the speed tests (1.3mbs) and phoned BT sales back - just happened to speak to the same guy.  He basically didn't believe me when i told him the speeds i was receiving cos THEIR checks showed i don't go below 2mbs.  I asked him what would happen if i did sign up for BT/Vision and found i couldn't watch any tv, and all he could say was that i'd be able to cancel the package cos BT weren't meeting their contractural obligation.

So......on top of getting crap speeds like almost everyone else on here, BT tell you that you're getting a higher speed than reality from 'their' ASDL tests.

Has anyone out there experienced the Vision dilemma?

It seems we're all getting shafted by the big corporates.
  • Sid · 1 year ago
Reply for Angie:- I've no experience of the BT service but I went for the broadband plus tv option from my ISP. I was on up to 2Mbs and I think the modem limited me to that. The engineer arrived and removed the old modem and fitted a new 8Mbs modem then checked the speed before he went any further. He told me the tv would take about 2Mbs. It was only when he  was satisfied my connection was fast enough  that he fitted the set top box. Don't forget that if you're on 3.2Mbs the tv will use about 2Mbs if its on while you're surfing.

Carryduff (Belfast) Took an upgrade from aol for 14.99 to get the so called 8mb my test is around 1200 and 350 - which admittedly is double what i was getting....so anyone any ideas what I should do now - I'm 1km from exchange wil they be able to get me faster?

O2 broadband - 12667/685. I think its the best broadband available now. 24/7 free customer service and I had my broadband go active in less than a week. Was with Tiscali (nightmare) and then opted for Virgin but fortunately they couldnt install cable (later read how slow the broadband from Virgin was) so I went for O2!
  • David Aston · 1 year ago
Seems a very straight forward speed checker. Does a download result of 9480 kbps mean I must be on Virgins 10 meg package, or am I supposed to average that against the radically different upload speed of 468 kbps, does anyone know?
  • David · 1 year ago
Just joined AOL and it is absolutely crap , tech support in mumbasai and do not know what they are talking about, only getting less than 1kbs .
not bad for paying for 8mb i suppose as we do live in england.Seems to be the norm now in this country.Ripp us off and charge us for privilage.
ofcom has told them , if they advertise 8mg then they have to supply 8mg.
Tiscali no better . just unfortunate i cant get o2.

BT-meant to be 4 Meg-in actual fact most of the time is a Fortieth of that. Call centre (in India I guess) contadict themselves, and then claim all is well! Are all the main isp's like this?
  • KEVIN · 1 year ago
Im with TalkTalk they say that I am getting 6100 kbps down but I seem to be getting 4632 kbps  download and 361 kbps upload . I dont think its too bad as its free

i am with virgin media and have done two independent tests this one and watchdogs . definately getting less than half the rate i am paying for.

{see previous post} got a new hub now
    Download    5968Kbps

    what a difference that made

I often read  adverse comments about Virgin Media  which intrigues me. I am with Virgin up to 10Mb service. I consistentl get dowload speeds in ecess of  9 and more ofen than not  in excess of  9.5Mb/s

PlusNet for as long as I can remember. Download 504, Upload 272 for an "Up to 2Mb" connection. Absolutely appalling, will be changing ASAP. They were great until BT bought them out.

To George Jones : speed of broadband changes all the time and there are many factors (eg how many users  your ISP is serving at the moment in your area) Thats why you got different results. Im very happy with my O2 broadband.

I have been monitoring my Virgin media Broadband connection for the past four days. The slowest speed has been 85.kbps and the fastest speed has  been 376.kbps.
I have been paying for 8MB Broadband for the past 18 months , Tomorrow I will change my IT provider .
I dont mind paying for a service, but I hate being Ripped off !

I have just changed over to o2 broadband from Virgin and it is great, I pay £7.50 a month and I am getting 5712kbps,Virgin claim to use fibre optic cable that is faster but whats the point if you only get 1800kbps. they have been robbing me for years.

    Russ,
I am with Virgin too, and had the same problem.
I called their help line and went through bits and it turned out to be the Router i was using.
I have a 20mb connection but only got 1 - 2 mb from it! plugged the modem in directly and it went up to almost 19mb.
I now used the one they sent me and get around 5 - 18mb depending on time of day.

Just signed up with O2 for £12.50 per month (up to 8mb download speed). Up and running within 5 days.

Area: London, NW10 (near phone exchange)

    Upload        776Kbps

O2 is looking good to me!

Hey all don't mess with Virgin Broadband (AU)
It has break neck speeds of :
    Download    232Kbps
    Upload        169Kbps

This is using a 3G network modem which jumps from HSPDA to UTMS - GPRS <---gprs which is slower the a dial up connection.
and that was the best of 3 attempts
Funny thing I was told to update my firmware from a Virgin IT person and it was meant to improve my internet....but guess what it has made it even worse. it is actually slower then it already was. OMG!!

Anyways let me just say that virgin everything sucks even their service.
  • Bert · 1 year ago
Message  for Michael and all the other detracors of Virgin Media. I have bben with ntl for some yrars and now on Virgin up to 10Mb service I check speed regulaly and  consistently get in excess of 9 mbs download. From my point of view Virin is very good

Agree Bert, I've been with Virgin / NTL for years. Very professional in all dealings my basic 2Mb Broadband comes in at 1.98Mb consistently. Phone and TV also very good.

These folk that are happy with Virgin Media must know the private phone number of Richard Branson (now there would be a capture). Their customer services are as bad as their so called broadband service. Can never get them easily and they don't ring beck when they said they would
  • Hugh · 1 year ago
These folk that are so unhappy with Virgin Media must have some vested interest in promoting ANOTHER. If you have the phone package included technical help is free and effective, but it is so seldom required even if the user is not tech educated. Those are my honest findings. In trying to assist my daughter, I experienced an entirely different situation with SKY as they are only Answer Centre supported and are dependent on reading answers off their screen as they call it up, any question or variation they are lost and may pull the plug. I also spent approx £50 on those phone calls.
  • Bert · 1 year ago
I have  just read Hugh and Tony's  posts. Before sending this I checked my dowload speed which was 9.6Mbs. I would also like to point out that Virgin Media technical support calls are  now  free and I  dont have Richard  whatever his name is'es ( this is a difficult one) telephone number
  • Tony · 1 year ago
Maybe, just maybe, then Virgin Media Customer services will honour their promise to call me (been waiting over a week) and get their techies to check my system out and see why their promised 20 Mb is only 6.  I'll lay odds they will spring a new contract period on me to make it more difficult to switch. Interested to see who has bad news about Orange as much I see is complimentary

    To Mr.Un.happy
I've been with Virgin/Ntlworld for only 4 months. I have the basic 2Mb and consistently measure in excess of 1.9Mb (via fibre optic cable). Are you on cable or BT landline. If it's a landline it's very dependant on line condition and impedance/distance from source. My daughter has that problem with SKY.

Well I must say until I used this site and read all of the comments made I thought I was the only mad person to sit on a phone to AOL forever and ever amen! Talk Talk the people in Mumbai certainly can and all of it rubbish. Will not bother relating all downloads and upload speeds just to say I too have been told. "Madam I am sorry to tell you the problem is the distance from your exchange to you"  My reply "Then tell me why my nearest neighbour on the same deal with you 1/4 of a mile further from the exchange is getting much faster downloads. Whoops seem to have been cut off again. Oh well will just have to redial. I am restricted on mobility and do not get out much so why not spend time harrassing Mumbai?

After three years with Virgin I am now getting, on a good day, half the broadband speed I pay for namely 3928 kbps and 288 kbps.   Still, it is an improvement and I will probably go on paying through the nose for such blinding speeds.    One thing I will say about Virgin is that it seldom goes "off air".     But, methinks it seems a little strange that the same few contributors keep cropping-up on a regular basis praising Virgin to the highest and thereby unduly colouring opinion other readers may get of various ISP's.

3g mobile broadband is to be avoided at all costs.  An average of 88kbps this evening; that's way lower than dial up! They cannot advertise this service as broadband as more often than not it is lower than dial up.  Thought it was only me, but a few comments have been floating my way as i rant and rave plus a quick look at some forums show that a lot of people are having similar problems.  Not only that, but you can't make a complaint in a 3G store!  Any complaint submitted via the 'net is fobbed off.  Methinks Watchdog should be informed.

Im on a Tiscali 2Meg service, getting just under 1 meg, I think if u read your contracts BB service is contracted "up to" the speed shown. Other things that can affect your service which they dont tell you about, is the distance between your house and the local Broadband exchange, the further away it is the less service you get, this is due to attenuation in the cable which degrades the service.

Virgin 10 Mbs in my area varies from 9.4 at unsocial hours down to 0.25Mbs during evening peak use times. Very annoyed at the slow speeds when I mostly use it, so I am going back to a land line and 02 16 Mbs which has the best reviews i have seen so far. Anyone with experience of 02 16 Mbs, please share your opinions.

im with virgin, on the 10MB package, was upgraded to that from 4MB for free, consistently get between 5.5 and 6. Just to make most of you aware, and by this, i mean the british public, when communications providers do their advertisement, if you check, it says these KEY words 'UP TO', what this ACTUALLY means is that your line can support 'UP TO' 8MB, meaning, not ALL lines can perform these speeds, and this is PURELY based upon length, if its ADSL of course, which most are, apart from a cable company. Also, if you dont want to recieve empty 'promises' on an 8MB line speed from advertisment  which does quote 'UP TO' then dont go with poor companies that you cant trust, its common sense if you think about it.

Do not trust the positive Virgin cable reviews posted. I have found them a bit to corporate to be believable. My experience of the Virgin Cable complaints/customer service is abysmall and that you only get an Indian call centre who can only parrot the standard phrases which do not cure any Virgin hardware problems.  My service in the Plymouth area averaged 0.5 Mbs at 18.00 in the evening when i wanted to use the broadband, to 9.86 Mbs at 07.00  when no one was using it.  This has gone on for nearly 2 months now, 20 calls to complain,5 emails saying 'there is a fault, but we can't tell you when we can fix it', I have had enough and re-connecting my BT line to get a reliable service. EuroBell & Telewest/Blueyonder were 100% fault free, Virgin is just pants and should be taken to court for thier misrepresentative adverts. ' Mother of all Broadbands' MY ARSE.
  • TJ · 1 year ago
urrrm, im on the virgin 20meg connection, and ifound that when i connect directly i recieve upto around 14 meg, which is brilliant, but if i connect via the router, with an ethernet cable it slows down to around 7 meg, which is strange because at the time of the test no computers were connected wirelesly, lol
oh nd btw i have a question, since my laptop is connected via the ethernet to the router, would it make a difference if i connect wirelessly aswell to the same laptop?
just wanted to know, as i have threecomputers on this wireless networks, and it slows down my speed vastly

Im on talktalk 8mg/s and i get less than 1/2 mg/s. is there a way to make it quicker
  • MIG · 1 year ago
Following 24hrs of head-banging to actually get the Talktalk server to talk to my system it now seems that the 'up to' 8 Mb/s is really 3.4 to 3.8 Mb/s
The BT line is capable of carrying 6.5 Mb/s according to the BT test carried out recently, so talktalk give me half of what is available
Get what you pay for I suppose!
  • malcolm · 1 year ago
Well MIG you are such a lucky guy to be getting that much from talktalk, my 8mbps is .450 in real terms, about equal with dial up, you will find the tech department very unhelpful until they transfer you to 2nd line support who seem to know what they are talking about, my line only supports 1.1 Mbps according to talktalk but recently I had a nearly 4 Mbps connection which was unstable, intrestingly my neighbours with other ISPs get speeds in excess of 6Mbps, have heard all the excuses< BT  installed Aliminium cables, your PC is not configured correctly, your router has the wrong settings, it's their bloody equipment for christ sake
Did they tell you they have now taken over your phone line and it will cost you £70 to go back to BT then on to another ISP

Just a thought with exchanges being unbundled, which I take to mean updated how is it that some ISPs seem to have a better stable connection than others, they all complain that BT has the final say but is it all in the cost as usual, years ago I had a faster more stable connection with Orange but was lured away by a package from talktalk that promised more and cheaper too! This was a finacial thing so surely it should be covered by the Trading Standards Act but have been in contact and they are more interested in protecting the big name brands of clothing or shoes than taking on ISPs, Yes as you can imagine I am fed up with fighting for what I pay for with no help from any govenment agencies, if I could afford the £70 I would move to another ISP,

It may help to understand how I get as much a 3 Mb/s if you consider that I am in visual range of the telephone exchange!
Having only just managed to get on line this evening after trying and failing all day I have taken advantage of Talktalk's 30 day trial, given up and gone back to BT. for phones AND broadband - It works out similar cost as Tiscali long term..

I'm on orange and According to the 8 speed tests I've conducted today that I''m getting anything from 0.107Meg upto 2.5meg within 5 minutes. Most are around dialup speed if I'm lucky. I should be able to get 6 meg. i'm within 300m of exchange. What is going on?

ust joined AOL and it is absolutely crap , tech support in mumbasai and do not know what they are talking about, only getting less than 1kbs .
not bad for paying for 8mb i suppose as we do live in england.Seems to be the norm now in this country.Ripp us off and charge us for privilage.
ofcom has told them , if they advertise 8mg then they have to supply 8mg.
Tiscali no better . just unfortunate i cant get o2.

Please please keep posting your comments ISPs are ripping us off big time and only public opinion will sway the Govenment to take action ,think of it, a fridge that don't get cold, a car that does not go faster than 5mph, a aircraft that cannot reach it's destination, there would be hell to pay, questions asked in the house, but ISPs funded by new users monies seem to avoid any comment from a govenment that urged us to join the internet revolution
Keep posting we will get what we pay for or crash the whole thing when we withdraw
We are not motorist subject to every whim of anybody who can think up a new way to get money out of us, we have rights and if they are not granted, cut us off, how many internet related big named companies could now survive without our custom online, let the money fight the money for a change, if they want our custom sort out the companies that provide it or go down, it's as simple as that

I have had comcast high speed boost internet (16 mbps) for months and each week I have documented speed tests. My average is 5.82 mbps. Tomorrow, Comcast has one chance to come clean as an American corporation to be accountable and practice good business ethics. They can ether refund me the money or adjust my bill for the next months. One chance Comcast to be accountable.

Have changed to O2 16 Mb ADSL service and get a reliable 13 Mb average. What a change from my old Virgin Cable service which averaged out at 0.5 Mb and at 5 to 8 PM normally was at 0.3 Mb. If you want a reliable, easy to set up, UK helpline broadband, then O2 is my recommended choice.

Its sometimes high 2 and sometimes goes as low as 800bps :(. I would'nt mind so much if it was consistently 3mb. I hate virgin media. I'd complain but its a bunch of random Pakistanis from a different country who know nothing...

Leaving talktalk on a jet plane know I'm never coming back again, oh folks I love to go
Sorry about that but after 20 months of the worst service you can imagine I'm getting out, free of charges as it goes thus saving between £70-£135
No clue about new service but cannot be worse than talktalk!!!!

Intrestingly talktalk have been on the phone constantly offering to renew my contract and give me a higher speed service, Ho ho, catch me once shame on you , catch me twice shame on me!!
Leaving on a jetplane, never coming back again, your service is so much crap

I have just tried a broadband upgrade with Tiscali to give me a faster download speed. Told it will take 10-12 days to go active. 7 weeks later and about 5/6 hours worth of calls to them it's finally worked, I wonder if they'll re-imburse it all.... Crap customer service in India who are not interested in your opinions and who do not give updates. Seems they're only interested in your money. 1 more chance then there opff the map. Recommend them - no way.....

I have a ntlworld now Virgin Media 2MB broadband service. In tests this regularly returns 150k - 700k and web pages take forever to load. Virgin Media's Indian call centre tells me this is normal and that to get a 2MB connection I Have to subscribe to their 20MB service!  I have emailed their 48 hour support service to complain but 5 days later I am still waiting for a reply.  If you don't have Virgin Media yet avoid it like the plague !!!! You have been warned.

Hi. 1,269 / 8,191 up/download. O2 8Mb. Thats great, the thing is to swap your phone line or just conect straight to main socket (less bad phone cable gives you better speed) Now I using wirelles and me speed goes up more than 1 Mb why ?? beacuse I moved router to main socket.  At the moment all routers offer at least 54Mb wirelles speed and you cant even reach that so way use ethernet ?? dosent make any point for me.
ps: if you really want to check broadband speed buy a account on for example account on rapidshre and then try get any files from there and install dumeter to check the speed how fast the file will go.  with me 8Mb from o2 I can reach 950 KB/s  950*8 - 7600 Mb . One big B-bajt = 8 small b -bit

I no everybody says BT offer a slow speed, im on option 3 and i truthfully cannot stand BT customer services but, my download speed is never under 3 meg and mostly 6 and 7 meg. Im on a 'up to 8mb' connection. I restart my homehub every week if it drops slow thus in turn makes the router search again and flatens out any slow speed. With my voip phone line aswell for free i cannot knock it. I live in a small town and cannot get fibre optic, so from a copper line my average is 5.5 meg which i think is good, i only got this though since they replaced my router with the new black one with the blue lights. GREAT ROUTER!

They will not accept that as a true reading as your computer could have been updating etc the only thing they will accept is your network usage found in your control panel, this gives you a graph image live of what you are getting download, if this companys server is busy it will show you a false reading, if your with BT try their own speed test it is the only accurate way, honestly ive had engineers here and getting 6 Mb whilst this test is showing 2 Mb.

Been with Virgin for three years and paid full whack for their broadband which, up until now,  has been stable but so slow
averaging around 1 mbs download and .3 mbs upload.    Then
last week Virgin upgraded the broadband  in my area to ADSL2 and now my broadband speeds are averaging 6 mbs download and .8 mbs upload.   I had to buy a new router as mine went on the blink round about the time of the upgrade (talk about coincidence!)         Anway - I'm still in shock -  although I'm not aware of any dramatic difference when surfing the net - I do like running the broadband speed tests simply to see the upgraded figures!     (Memo to self - must get out more!)
  • superonslo · 10 months ago
I was on a call and BB Package with Tiscali for last 3 years, 20 quid a month, new customers get up to 8 Meg instead of up to 2 Meg as I was on for the same cost. Decided to upgrade as more bandwidth for the same price........wrong.......now tied into a new 12 month contract for what I was on before and still only get up to 1mb. They are very quick to update thier contractual paperwork but seem to forget to do the exchange work.....be cautious !
  • Flower · 10 months ago
I've been with Virgin since God was a boy. I lost my  broadband altogether the latter end of last autumn but  was told it was all part of the upgrade and by the end of November 08 I would be getting near the 8Meg I've been paying for.  Just got back after a long trip and find I have a stunning .85Meg  download and even more stunning .5 meg upload - carrier pigeon may be quicker!!
  • Hugh · 10 months ago
Are you on Cable or BT line. If you are receiveing your Broadband via BT line, it's speed is dependant on the resistive connection quality, inpedance of your BT line and distance from transmission source, out of Virgins control. If it's cable give them HELL, it's Virgins problem. I am on the basic 2 meg from Virgin it is seldom less than 1.98meg.

Virgin is currently providing a very poor service to me. having experienced little or no connectivity for a week I upgraded to the 10mb service only to find that its been worse since. The best I've had this morning is 0.45 mbs and i've just run a test and got 0.27 mbs.

I've complained by email (probably still floating in the ether somewhere as its taking so long to connect and send! i've phoned and spoken to a number of staff who tried to be helpful but were unable to solve my problems. engineer coming out Monday. Bet they say its something at my end but how can something like that explain bradband speeds ranging from 0.27 to 5. If there was a problem at my end then surely it would be constantly poor. we'll see but I think I'll start looking for an alternative.
  • Hugh · 9 months ago
Peter, do you receive your Virgin Broadband via Fibre Optic Cable or BT line. As I mentioned above on March 02 09, BT landline can have many problems, it's only wire and at such high frequencies, even a loose connection causes major losses.
    Hugh

I wonder do any of you happen to use AVG antivirus as i read recently in a review of it free version that it loves broadband and eats into speed. Its funny because i recently replaced it  with Avaria. I could not understand why my speed has gone up  considerably. its worth a try. I  also had a BT plate fitted into the phone socket this i feel has also improved my speed. So that's also worth a try

  • peter Roddis · 9 months ago
New modem installed and now working much faster. measured 6512 a few minutes ago. well off 10 but much better than 400. Just wish that they had sorted it out more efficiently instead of me having to make so many phone calls etc. They have however provided a small amount of refund for the poor service so can't grumble.
  • Lisa · 9 months ago
I really would not moan about that at all, BT average is only around 2500 your lucky to recieve anything above 4 with BT what ever the package, its virgin with a fibre optic cable thats the winner, im on BT somedays its 2 meg somedays its 3, it depends on a number of things, try using the actual BT speed tester the one that can only be used every 3 hours that will give you your correct reading.

  • Dan "The Stroller" · 9 months ago
It's all great, and all major broadband speed test services do a great job in figuring out the download speed. What they have a problem with is an upload speed. I've found that the same service can give very different results fo different upload file sizes.
  • Rhonda Carnegie · 9 months ago
I have Cox Communication subscription in Virginia. It is advertised as 2 but I constantly get the speed way above that. My friend says that speed test service is wrong. I do not know, the real max download speed I've ever gotten is around 1000 kByte/sec. That was from Amazon AWS services. I think that speed mostly depends on the other end, on the delivering server.
  • cheap · 9 months ago
I have used this speedtest, and find that although it is much more accurate than some, open source speed testers, it is still nto that accurate.

I think that the speed tester you show above is more accurate as it checks the connection speed to more than one server, is that correct?
  • Lisa · 9 months ago
this is not really the correct way to check your speed, this test will give differet readings depending on what browser you have open, if you run AVG it always shows no more than around 2 meg,
also it depends on your network card and what server the test is running from, i get a 6800-7500 most of the time, before they changed their picture (and possibly server) it never read above 4000. Please bear this in mind that your ISP will not call this test accurate and will not do anything  about your speed if you tell them you are using a Internet speed test. Get an accurate reading by downloading an hourly widget testing it for a week then take the average!

Not to brag or anything but I think I found a better test…. The above test gives basic speed information but no real info you quality or capability of your connection. My favorite Broadband Speed Test site is http://www.ispgeeks.com.

Click on Broadband Diagnostics then TCP Quality Test and the rest is simple. They also have a true speed test, voip test and a couple of other things.

You get data back like this (testing my connection)

    Speed test statistics
    ———————
    Download speed: 7437424 bps
    Upload speed: 1646448 bps
Download quality of service: 97 %
Upload quality of service: 95 %
    Download test type: socket
    Upload test type: socket
    Maximum TCP delay: 76 ms
    Average download pause: 3 ms
Minimum round trip time to server: 60 ms
Average round trip time to server: 61 ms
    Estimated download bandwidth: 35200000bps
    Route concurrency: 4.7328215
Download TCP forced idle: 77 %
    Maximum route speed: 8738000bps

Plus it even gives you graphical data such as this (based on the test above).

    1160kbps download
    138kbps upload
On Three (Hutchison 3G U.K.) mobile broadband dongle, with only 2 out of 5 bars reception. Not bad considering max speed is advertised as 2700kbps. Have tested before with 4 out of 5 bars reception and got 3150kbps download and 706kbps upload. Quite chuffed with these results, would certainly recommend Three to anyone.

    Three mobile broadband:

    792 Kbps download
    319 Kbps upload

Ditching BT ADSL was the best choice I've made in a long long while. Used to get 200Kbps download and 56Kbps upload on a landline! Awful...

I can take mobile broadband anywhere and its cheaper too!

When can we in the country only getting at best 700kbs from BT expect more? There are so many ads for higher speed to tempt me to switch but can I expect more speed to do my work from them????

First off THANKS for this meter I trust it, when my speed is slow it does not give false results.
I am in Trinidad and Tobago and I suppose to get 2mb with double speed of about 4MB according to my package from my ISP provider TSTT.
At certain times I am not getting my correct speed of 4mb, that is during late evenings in the week and on weekends after lunch slow speed for the rest of the day and I call my ISP provider all the time they check my end and tell me the obvious my end is good then they tell me that they will check there side, guess what problem never resolve ,several times I call them, same service ,it not making any sense calling them and it is a speed problem on their server, I bet.
When my speed is slow the meter I use to use tells me I am getting 4mb but your meter confirm that i was right ,your meter read 1 -1.5MB when I getting slow internet speed, how I know is speed it is because of slow steaming of videos and pages taking a little longer not much ,longer to load and my c is fast and I clean my cache often.
YOUR METER IS BOSS it's accurate THANKS...I think that I will ave to switch.

Its a suspicion I have had about the Broadband speed I am getting. This test has provided a basis for concrete proof.
