Connected Internet: Adding CommentLuv Plugin And How To Tweak Feedburner For Better Backlinks

  • John · 1 year ago
    Are you not worried that much like the "dofollow" lists this might attract more spam comments?

    John's last blog post..Pick Of The Week - 17th May 2008

    @John

    Not as many as with dofollow. The problem with dofollow was people left the comments to try and get particular anchor text.

    I think the people taking advantage of this plugin will do it for the right reasons, and I also think it will be useful for my readers. For instance, I'm going to click on your 'Pick Of The Week' link now because I'm curious!!!

    I see this as more of a genuine reward to readers who contribute on your site and in terms of spam, I get lots of spam (this plugin didn't really increase the amount), but almost all of it is caught by Akismet.

    I'm surprised people find that spam is an issue given Akismet is a default plugin that comes with Wordpress - do others really have problems with spam?

    @Zath

    I don't have a big problem anymore with spam getting through, but I had to use a combination of akismet and bad behaviour as the spam was still hitting my site and really slowing my site down.

    I think what Chris was referring to is all the stupid comments from humans (not robots) designed to take advantage of dofollow sites. I had to put nofollow back on as was getting sick of deleting them.

    Once again this plugin has paid dividends - just read your wii fit post. My gf and I were thinking of getting a wii for wii fit, and you've just convinced us!!

    @Zath Like Everton I too have a problem with spam comments from humans :( Askimet stops a lot of spam but theses still get through and I waste time moderating them.

    It has worked - your link is now pointing to your site and not to a Feedburner redirect

    Ohhh a nice shiny new theme :)

    I like it. Only thing I miss is a logo. Are you planning on putting one back up there.

    A nice modified version of your old one would be great/ A nice shiny graphite gradient and gleaming white text.

    Should be easy enough to tweak.

    I love comment Luv and find a lot of good articles from it.

    Logo is coming - just waiting for my designer to churn out a new one to fit the new sizing. I kinda like the colouts as they are - clean and professional

    Looks good and thanks for the tips.

    With you last one about Feedburner if you're using the PR0 version they've moved the option to the bottom of the Analyse tab under Services->FeedBurner Stats, might save somebody (i.e. me) 5 minutes :)

    Thanks for the tip about changing the Feedburner settings (and thanks to Al Carlton for saving me a few minutes). That is certainly a trap for the unwary.

    Nice post. I did not know that it updates to last post. Do you mean all links or comments change when you make new post.
  • Jessica · 6 months ago
    CommentLuv is a great asset. It gives incentive to people to rapidly communicate with each other through comments and wordpress provides the software to also block spam at the same time, so altogether it is a great advancement.
    Cheers,
    Jessica

    I have just installed the commentluv plugin to my blog. I think the concept of it all sounds great so here is hoping. Feel free to leave a dofollow comment as long as it is on topic. Have a nice day.

    Commentluv is a great addition to your blog and is pretty easy to install (especially on wordpress based blogs). Its a great way to allow your readers to comment and get a little PR for their latest blog post. Definitely worth it!
  • john111 · 2 months ago
    Keyword love along with comment luv r a wonderful options to add to your blog. It gives readers incentive to add relevant comments by being rewarded with a backlink.gives users motivation to post comments. Yet, content is very important to keep them coming back. In my opinion keywordluv is especially interesting as a tool to draw attention to a relatively new blog.Also noting to someone who commented. Nofollow Blogs are still useful as they still count as a link. They also genarate traffic.comment luv is also not less fasccinating
  • tom11980 · 1 month ago
    It seems like it depends on the topic that your blog is on. I use the plugin on all my sites but it only seems like a couple get a lot of spam. I am not sure what is causing it other than the topic that I am posting on. All in all I like the plugin, I get a lot more comments then I ever had so I give it two thumbs up.

    Thanks for the run thru im going to install comment luv on my blog
