I'm not sure I agree with you on that k-net. The demo shows some real Simpsons graphic. I think it looks pretty good and real.

18 years in the making... The first reviews say it reminds you of a 87 mins. long episode. That's what I want. I'm always afraid when TV-shows are made into movies. Think X-Files, that movie was disappointing (there are even rumours of a sequel now). I'm glad they waited until they had something solid to make a movie over.

I think the games based on movies often are very created on very tight schedules. They have to be ready just around the movie premiere in order to get the extra promotion. Rushed projects usually doesn't turn out good. Often they fail to capture the same setting/mood as in the movies.

The Simpson Movie tie ins are pure magic. I am pretty sure I have never seen such effective movie marketing. A video game? Certainly. It's the norm. Have you seen pictures of the convenience stores they are totally reworking as promos>?
