    Pretty good list. I'm going to have to implement most if not all of these.
  • listikal · 2 years ago
    Great job Ev. I remember Labnol saying something early in June about Adsense taking a hit in June due to the Arbitrage sites going down. Do you think this was a factor?
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @listikal

    I think it may have had a small impact as the arbitrage sites would only have been paying very small amounts

    Yeah, I noticed that removing multiple ad blocks and replacing them with just once well performing block improved my earnings. Google better make some literature regarding Smart Pricing thing available, with fake rumors floating around, it's quite hard to believe in real facts.

    Great post! Stumbled it!

    You have written it nicely. And this post is also an attempt to increase your traffic as most of the people search how to improve you adsense earning and i am sure when they land on this page they found it worthy. Well written.

    But one think is not added Traffic = Money.

    @3gp

    this post is definitely an attempt to create another 'timeless' post and to hopefully get some link love from other sites. They'll be more like this coming this month as I've decided to try and grow traffic this month, to try and counter the fall in CPM.

    I see a lot of sites (especially on WP) not making use of the Adsense for Search program - if implemented well, this could bring you good returns. Same holds true for Adlinks.

    @amit

    I've never had much luck with adlnks. Any suggestions on positions on this site?
  • Angie · 2 years ago
    The more I read your articles, the more I think I need to trust your input and just go ahead and try adding Adsense to my blog. I use Adsense on several of my static sites, but it only performs well one one and even thn it's only about $500 a month.

    I loved this article. in fact, I will probably pimp it in my next blog entry.

    You've got nothing to lose....I'm glad you liked the post. I promised you a few blogging tip type posts - few more coming up this month

    Great tips Everton! Yeah, we're with you on this - trust Google, don't go overboard with the competitive ad filter if you can avoid it. :-)

    One thing I DON'T like is when Google puts a SINGLE very large ad in a 336x280 spot or a large 728x90 banner spot... it looks like a graphical banner and the click trough is low. This only happens sometimes, and the only way I've found to solve it is to ban that advertiser in my adsense filtering. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Don't you had trouble with google policy about publishing adsense earnings?
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    @Ceglie

    Nope, because I only publish my gross amount - I don't publish my eCPM or CTR which isn't allowed. Extract fro T&Cs; below:

    Confidentiality. You agree not to disclose Google Confidential Information without Google's prior written consent. "Google Confidential Information" includes without limitation: (a) all Google software, technology, programming, specifications, materials, guidelines and documentation relating to the Program; (b) click-through rates or other statistics relating to Site performance in the Program provided to You by Google; and (c) any other information designated in writing by Google as "Confidential" or an equivalent designation. However, You may accurately disclose the amount of Google’s gross payments to You pursuant to the Program.

    My sites that i put adsense all are still new and still not got page rank yet. How many month usually Google give page rank after we build site? And is it potential for us to get good earning in Adsensee while our site still not have page rank??

    Best regards
    :)
  • Everton · 2 years ago
    That's an interesting question ForumeR as I don't know if the adsesne crawler is independent of the main google crawler. If no-one else spots this comment I'm going to turn it into a post as I'm curious

    I've just started my own blog, and have been reading your entries regarding Adsense optimisation. Just by fiddling about with the ads on my diary hosting website I've managed to increase revenue ten fold - yes, the positioning really was that bad! I don't have a set number of banners globally now, I place them strategically to make the most out of the space.

    I hope to monetise my blog one day, but for now I'm just working on building up some genuine content.

    These are some amazing tips!

    I run a decently popular RPG called Stroceta (http://www.stroceta.net/) and I have been struggling with AdSense earnings. My revenue just wasn't high enough to pay server costs. (A dedicated server costs a LOT of money) My clicks weren't earning me much, maybe 1 or 2 cents per click... That is pretty bad.

    So, after reading this post, I have adjusted my ads slightly and the daily revenue went from $1.30 to $4.20 or so. If this keeps up, maybe I can get some good days like before. (When I first started I was getting up to $6 a day with less traffic! I guess google was still determining the best advertisers)

    Thanks for the tips man!

    Sincerely,
    -Marcus

    I'd not heard of Google Adsense Smart Pricing. I don't tend to put many ad units on a page, but had been thinking of adding more. I suppose I can try it and see what the CTR is for them.

    Thanks for the tips!
